Isuzu waves goodbye to U.S. retail market

Fans of Isuzu will be seeing less of the Japanese auto maker's products in the United States.

The company has decided, after years of struggling, to end sales of its trucks and SUVs. The decision will be executed starting January 31, 2009.

While the decision was perhaps sparked by the fact that sales of Isuzus in the U.S. were down 16.6 percent from 2006, General Motors decision to stop production of the  models which the Isuzu Ascender SUV and i-Series compact pickup were based was probably the deathknell.

Isuzu plans to continue to honor warranties and support with its parts and service operations. Our take? Bye, bye Isuzu, we hardly knew ye.
