If you’re an actor, the words “Call back!” are golden. If you’re a car manufacturer, the words lose that glistening hue and anything golden that has brought you the green is now looking a very dismal red.
According to the Associated Press, nearly 15 million vehicles were called back for repairs last year. That’s an increase of 30% compared to 2006! Holy ham-fisted mechanics!
With more than 5.5 million re-calls, Ford Motor Co. lost the race for piecing together finely crafted cars and won the race for poorly constructed vehicles. To its credit, Ford is improving on tightening the nuts and bolts that were popping off in every direction. Looking at Toyota, it's determined to keep its customers coming back and proving their dedication to first-rate quality.
Toyota has whittled their vehicle recalls down to approximately 583,191. Still sounds like a lot, doesn’t it? But consider in 2005, Toyota recalled 2.3 million vehicles.
