According to Trend News, Italian exotic auto maker Alfa Romeo is looking beyond the Continent and has snagged GM's luxury marquee Cadillac to help it.

Alfa is talking to GM to use the Cadillac first-generation Sigma platform as the basis for its new car. The Sigma platform was used for the first generation Cadillac GTS as well as the current STS sedan.

Talk is that Alfa is looking for a platform because it plans to convert most of its models from Front Wheel Drive (FWD) to Rear Wheel Drive (RWD). Some of the cars affected include the next Alpha Spider, the Brera Coupe, the 159, and the new 169.

Alfa is expected to release the first of this new lineup in the next couple of years.
