In our celebrity obsessed culture, nothing is more important than knowing everything about our favorite star. What they wear, where they eat lunch, who does their hair. But now a new obsession has come to the fore, what on earth do celebrities drive as their personal vehicles?
One celebrity whose vehicle we are nauseatingly well acquainted with is that of accident prone Ms. Britney Spears. Her white Mercedes SL65 has become a regular fixture in the insane number of photos taken of the pop-tartlet by chasing paparazzi. She drives the poor AMG coupe from child custody hearing to Starbucks and back, leaving a swath of destruction behind her so wide that FEMA needs to be called in.
But what can her choice of car tell us about Britney Spears? The Mercedes AMG SL65 is fast, polluting and isn’t very practical. Sort of describes the once squeaky clean ex-Mouseketeer to the letter, I would say.
Another new trend in Tinseltown is to arrive on the red carpet in the latest eco-conscious vehicle, like when Brad Pitt attended the “Ocean’s Thirteen” premiere in a BMW 7-series powered only by Hydrogen. We all know about the fashionable couture the stars wear, why not their “Car-ture?”
So what kind of vehicles have celebrities been spotted driving or being driven in? Not surprisingly, there is a website devoted just to this topic. Myride.com has a section devoted just to photos of stars and their cars. Here are just a few of the stars whose private motoring moments have been violated for our entertainment.
1.) Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell – They have a cute as a button red Mini Cooper S, perfect for the cute as a button couple.
2. ) Arnold Schwarzenegger – The “Governator” of California currently drives a Hummer (what else?) that runs only on Vegetable Oil. (WHAT?)
3.) The Toyota Prius – The eco-conscious celebrity vehicle of choice with owners like Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson.
4.) Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan – These traffic violations waiting to happen both still love their big SUV’s, contrary to Paris claiming she was going to go “green.” Lindsay has an Escalade, Paris has a Range Rover.
5.) Cheech Marin –This idol to every pot smoking stoner in the nation, the star of the “Cheech and Chong” movies, drives a---wait for it---Volvo S80! A Volvo! Oh, no!
6.) BMW 7 Series powered by Hydrogen – This is a vehicle that BMW said it was going to lease to “special friends.” Their friend list includes Jay Leno, Will Ferrell and Jeremy Piven.
7.) Pamela Anderson – The blonde bombshell with bad taste in husbands drives a sexy, slinky Jaguar XKR.
8.) Adrian Grenier – The young star of HBO’s “Entourage” drives a base model VW Jetta! That is ironic since in one episode the character he plays and his friends deride the VW model as being a “chick car.”
9.) Jennifer Aniston – She has a 1960’s Ford Falcon van and there are photos to prove it! Man, she is cool.
10.) J-Lo – Silly commoner, J-Lo doesn’t drive, she is driven. In a Maybach, of course.
