Auto shows are certainly a good place for car makers to show off their concept vehicles. These vehicles give us an idea of the direction the maker intends to take in the future as more and more cars are developed using new technologies.
Question is, what concepts can we expect to see in production in the not to distant future? Forbes.com has come up with six concept vehicles that were showcased at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. They include:
Cadillac Provoq. Forbes.com says that the odds of the Provoq going into production is “High.” This concept features a fuel cell and is the latest of GM’s E-Flex propulsion systems. It is said to have a range of 300 miles and uses no gas and emits only water. What can keep this out of production is, ... you guessed it, the battery.
Buick Riveria Concept. There are no plans of releasing this stunner for now, says GM.
Ford Explorer America. This concept has a “high” chance for production, says Forbes.com. This car features an EcoBoost engine technology which will boost fuel economy by 20 percent to 30 percent over today’s Explorer V6.
More models and information can be found at the original article. Our take? The North American market has matured with the major automakers fighting to secure the niches segments like sporty luxury or lux sporty. Rising fuel prices have definitely had an impact in improving engine efficacy and the crossover is reshaping car bodies of the future. Overall, we like the changes and look forward to see the next batch in the near future.
