Land Rover LRX Concept goes Small

We guess good things come in small packages as far as SUVs are concerned, too.

The famed British car manufacturer Land Rover (now owned/to be owned by Indian Tata Motors) will be unveiling a new concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit later this month.

The official name is the LRX but is already affectionately being called the “Baby Rover.” People who have seen it in person say it looks like a MINI Cooper on steroids.

Based on the Land Rover LR2 platform, the SUV features Land Rover’s new Terrain Response System, full-time four-wheel drive, iPhone docking station and removable speakers.

Engine details have yet to be provided. Land Rover execs say that, if the LRX goes into production, the company will look to maximize fuel economy by reducing the vehicle's weight and increasing its aerodynamics.

More details can be found at AutoWeek. Our take? A "mini" Land Rover? Well, at least it's not a sedan.

Nice angles of approach and departure, should kick butt off road if overall not too low to the ground.
