Hot Volkswagen Wagon

Volkswagen has recently shown its striking RaVe 270 concept car. The hot wagon (thankfully VW isn't afraid to use the word) lives up to its namesake by being able to provide an auditory assault unrivaled amongst factory audio systems.

The 270 is no joke, either, as it represents the singular most powerful motor ever found in a factory Golf variant, a stout 270 bhp motor to be exact.

Boasting a 1400 watt 13 speaker sound system, along with 3 sub-woofers, the RaVe 270 controls this auditory hardware with a touchscreen navigation system. Coupled with a pair of TV screens in the front seats, there's no doubt that the car itself could power a RaVe anytime the owners wanted.

Not to say that the car couldn't get to a rave quickly, either. The RaVe 270 shares its basic architecture with other Golf-based cars. Power comes from the same 2.0 liter turbocharged I-4 of the GTI but is mated instead to the 4Motion DSG of the R32. With 270 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, the all-wheel drive is a welcome addition to a package that would otherwise have been susceptible to torque steer.

Body changes to the car prove minimal, but tasteful. A new front facia, side skirts, and rear bumper -- coupled with lowered suspension and big 19" wheels -- help to give the car an aggressive, sporting stance. Visually, big Brembo brakes to fill in those wheels, twin tailpipes, rear diffuser and spoiler help to solidify its sporting pretensions.

Our take? The Jetta is one of the few wagons we get, just don't count on up getting similar to this concept.
