I am no stranger to the Los Angeles Auto show. I first covered it in 2005 as a blogger for Autoblog, then the two shows in 2006 as it moved to its new date from January to November. But I felt this year’s show may be when Los Angeles finally comes out of Detroit, Frankfurt, and Tokyo’s massive shadows.

Coverage started earlier for me this year. Upon an invitation* from General Motors, I arrived on the 13th where I met with various Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in an informatl Q&A session over dinner.

Media days were the 14th and 15th. In upcoming posts, I will cover the various debuts, from the all-new Chevrolet Silverado hybrid, the Nissan GT-R, and the Toyota Sequoia. I will detail reactions of the new Lincoln MKS sedan to the gasps as the winner of the 2007 Green Car of the Year – the Chevrolet Tahoe hybrid – was announced. Finally, I will note why that I believe 2007 is a turning year not only for the automakers, but the Los Angeles Auto Show as well.

*General Motors covered housing and other expenses during the Los Angeles Auto Show.
