There is no doubt that cars are getting smaller. Witness the minicar and the SMART car. But are they truly getting small enough to be powered by a motorcycle engine? According to this report from Jalopnik, we guess the answer to that question is a resounding yes!

At the Frankfurt Auto Show recently, Toyota showed off a new minicar, the iQ, but without an engine.

Well, the concept car that is being prepared for production was shown may be sporting a Yamaha engine. The motorcycle company is supposed to be building it exclusively for use in the iQ.

Our take? So, what do you think? The mind boggles with car/engine combos. A Chevrolet with a Harley Davidson engine? A Cadillac with a BMW motorcylce engine? This could open up a whole new door to the theory of synergy simply because many of the world's car manufacturers also have motorcycle divisions -- Honda, Suzuki, BMW, et al.
