Toyota slippery floor mats and the Pontiac Aztek returns

You've no doubt had news to depart with when talking to friends and you've introduced your nuggets of knowledge with the phrase, "Good news and bad news."

Well, here is some good news from the auto industry (revved up) and a little bit of bad news (stalled) from the Free Press.

The good news is that the agreement between the UAW and General Motors means that the automaker can spend more on vehicle development. So look for the return of the Pontiac Aztek (pictured).

We're just kidding (about the Aztek, that is).

Bad news of sorts, Tesla Motors has delayed -- again -- the release of its electric roadster. The car with the $100,000 price tag needs more testing, the manufacturer says.

Shares of Ford and auto suppliers stocks have jumped since the recent agreement between GM and the UAW.  Wait, shouldn't GM's stock be jumping? Well, at least a thank you note is encouraged.

And ending this post on a bad note for one automaker, Toyota has recalled the floor mats in some of its Camrys and Lexus models. It seems that the mats can cause sudden and unintended acceleration. That's nice that Toyota is just as concerned with mats as it is with safety belts and cruise control.
