General Motors woos Skeptical Environmentalists

People seem surprised when someone ties the word "green" with General Motors. Why? It is a major player when it comes to flex fuel cars, having put out alone two million flex fuel cars on the road. So, why the slam?

Maybe it's because the company hasn't P.R.'ed very well to the "green "media.

Well, apparently someone realized the error. The Daily Green recently posted a GM-sponsored event where it showed off some of its cars to "green" reporters who work for the likes of Eco-Geek, Groovy Green, etc.

The greenies apparently were impressed. Models they like coming include: GMC Yukon Hybrid SUV, Chevy Malibu Hybrid, and Saturn Aura Green Line Hybrid. E85 flex fuel vehicles included the Chevy Avalanche, Chevy Impala, and the GMC Yukon XL. They like the Pontiac E85 flex fuel and Montana SV6, but those are available only in Canada.

Finally, they really, really, really like the Chevy Volt electric concept car (pictured). While some did not like the Camaro appearance of the car -- something about not liking muscle cars -- they are calling the Volt the "Holy Grail of electric car technology."

Our take? So, we guess GM has made peace with the greenies and everyone seems happy with the results.
