Aston Martin's Extra Special (Editions) at Frankfurt Show

Motor Trend reports Aston Martin will show two new special edition models this week at Frankfurt.

First up is a DB9 variant called the LM - you guessed it, in honor of the maker's 24 hours of Le Mans GT1 class win. It's essentially identical to the standard DB9, but features bespoke "Sarthe Silver" finish with "Magnum Silver" grille mesh and rear crossbar. You also get red brake calipers. The interior gets a unique look as well, with perforated leather inserts, red facia trim and a numbered sill plaque. Oh, and the "Touchtronic" automatic is the only transmission available. Hmmm...

The V8 Vantage N400 sounds like the more exciting of the duo, sporting a beefed up 4.3L V8 making a nice round 400 hp and 310 lb ft of torque. And sure, you get some special fit and finish options, like three retina blazing paint jobs, special grilles and clear taillights. The icing on the cake is the suspension revision, however. Lightweight aluminum wheels, revised springs and dampers and a stiffer sway bar button down the chassis. And yes, you can have a regular old three pedal, six speed arrangement as well. We all rejoice at this revelation. It seems to all work rather well, as rumor has it the car is lapping the Nurburgring in less than eight minutes. That's quick. Fittingly, the N400 moniker pays tribute to the success of the Vantage N24 at the 'Ring's ADAC 24 endurance race. This car, we like.
