We've seen a lot of lists that identify the safest cars available. However, these lists usually include cars that many if not most of us can't afford.
The implication is that less expensive cars, those maybe in the range of $25,000 and less, are not as safe.
Well, that's not necessarily true.
Leading the roll call, reports ConsumerAffair, is the Saturn Astra. A rebadged version of General Motors Opel Astra, it is followed by the Scion xB, the 2008 Hyundai Sonata, the Volkswagen Rabbit, the Mini Cooper, Toyota Camry, Volvo C30, Dodge Charger, Honda Accord and the Mazda CX-7. All of these cars include stability control systems, and six airbags including curtain airbags.
Our take? Apparently safety, among buyers, has no price tag, meaning it better be standard. Otherwise, the automaker's simply gets no sale.
