Last week, Ford Motor Co. and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced it was recalling 3.6 million Ford vehicles.

Vehicles affected include 1992-1997 Ford Crown Victoria sedan; 1999-2001 Ford Explorer SUV; 1999-2004 Ford F-150 Lightning pickup; 1998-2002 Ford Ranger pickup; 1993-1995 Ford Taurus SHO sedan; 1993-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII coupe; 1992-1997 Lincoln Town Car sedan; 1992-1997 Mercury Grand Marquis sedan; and the 1999-2001 Mercury Mountaineer SUV.

The issue is the vehicle's cruise control switch which has been demonstrated that, under certain conditions, will leak and cause a fire. Ford states it will replace all affected switches on the above vehicles.

Our take? As always, we urge owners of recalled vehicles to immediately head to their dealerships.
