The next Beetle will look nowhere near what has become the "traditional" Beetle look when it is released in 2010, i.e.g, no more turtle-like shape. Instead, be prepared for a sleek, sporty, more "modern" appearance.
The car will be styled in California and engineered in Germany, say Volkswagen execs. Reports are that there will be a hatchback version, then a soft top convertible, and even a wagon. Other future Beetles may include a micro-van, a pickup(!), and -- of course -- crossover.
