Watch out, world! An all-electric, lithium ion-powered MINI Cooper from BMW has been transferred to the production stage.

Triple Pundit says that the car has a range of 120 plus miles on a single charge and can reach speeds of up to 80 miles an hour. For those who demand quick and fast, the car can supposedly go from 0-60 in 6.0 seconds. *** Would have been great for the soap-box derbies of our youth.

The body of this unique MINI Cooper will be produced in a plant in Oxford, England while the conversion to the battery-power will take place in a plant in Mooresville, North Carolina.

A date for release was not given. Same with the price.

Is this a factory-authorized conversion, or some aftermarket hippie hack-job?
