India's Tata Least Expensive Car In World at $2,467

Can you imagine being able to buy a car using a credit card?

It just may be possible. The Los Angeles Times reports that Indian auto maker Tata will be releasing the world's most least expensive car by the third quarter of 2008. The four-door car will have a price tag of only $2,467. Currently, the least expensive car, Suzuki's Maruti 800, is priced at more than $4,000. (Pictured is the Tata Indigo Advent.)

The yet unnamed car will be manufactured at a plant in West Bengal, India. The plant is expected to have the capacity to make 250,000 cars a year.

Our take? The price tag is sure to attract, but what about the quality? And quantity will be a factor as well. Tata will have to sell an awful lot of cars at $2,467 in order to make any kind of impact on its bottom line.
