A special edition car, it mimics the original GTI Pirelli which first appeared in 1983.
The 2008 version sits on 18-inch Pirelli wheels (of course) and P Zero tires. The exterior will come in four colors. (Pictured is "Sunflower" yellow.) Special upholstery, custom stitching, and plenty of Pirelli badges will be on the seats, steering wheel, and hand brake.
A peak under the hood reveals a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that can generate a thrill-seeking 226 horsepower. Top speed is calculated to be 152 miles per hour.
Our take? Sorry, Europhiles, but so far there are no plans to sell the 2008 Golf GTI Pirelli in the United States any time soon.
