The American tradition has gone through its regular mid-cycle enhancements and it is under the skin that the engineers concentrated on this time.
Under the hood, the 2008 C6 has an improved drivetrain from engine to transmission. There is also a 6.2-liter LS3 small-block V8, which is normally found in Chevy's truck engines. Other enhancements include a new cylinder head; larger intake valves, and a more efficient intake manifold borrowed from the "lesser" 500 horsepower LS7 engine.
These improvements gives the C6 engine more awesome specs -- 430 horsepower at 5900 rpm and 424 lb-ft of torque at 4600 rpm. Wannabe owners also have the option of selecting a Z06-like butterfly valve equipped exhaust and its "to 436 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque" boost.
Another revision is the six-speed manual and automatic transmission. Though the price for the add-on has not been announced, speculation is between $1,000 and $1,500.
Exterior changes include new wheel designs and additions to the color palate -- Jetstream Blue Metallic and Crystal Red Metallic. For those Corvette owners to be, you get the option of adding leather around the dash and door panels.
Our take? Exterior color? Interior leather? Who cares! Chevrolet boasted that the 4.1 manual transmission hits 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and the automatic achieves it 4.3. Oh, yeah, top speed!
