This new Vectra, which is expected to be shown at this fall's Frankfurt Auto Show, is expected to be the basis for the new 2009 Saturn Aura, which will make its debut in North America the following year. The Vectra parts bin will again be raided a year or two later by the techs in Trollhattan to produce the new Saab 9-3.
These cars are expected to use a version of GM's Epsilon 2 platform, which should offer better handling, and a wider and taller body, resulting in more space for the driver and passengers.
People who live in snowy and rainy climates will no doubt appreciate the appearance of all-wheel-drive for the first time in these models. The number of engines offered will also increase, including a 200-hp 2.7-liter V-6 turbodiesel (though it's not yet known if the North American models will get this engine).
