More and more car companies are announcing that they will be experimenting with models that include fuel cells. The latest to announce that it will be showcasing a fuel cell car is General Motors.
According to AFX News Limited (via Forbes), the fuel cell will be featured on GM's variation of its E-Flex car series. The Chevrolet Volt concept, which debuted last year at the North American International Auto Show, is an E-Flex car.
Talk at GM is that the cars are already in production and could actually be available for sale within three years. China is being considered a major target for such vehicles. Already GM is involved in a joint venture with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp.
Our take? General Motors sold 291,588 vehicles in China during the first quarter of this year. No wonder most of the car manufacturers of the world are stumbling all over themselves to get into the Chinese market.
