What is the best handling production car in America? Motor Trend Magazine held a contest to find out.

Four divisions were created: Front-Engine/Front-Drive; Front-Engine/Rear-Drive; Front-Engine/All-Wheel-Drive; Mid- or Rear-Engine/Rear- or All-Wheel Drive. For a vehicle to be considered, it had to be made in the U.S. and certified as American. Finally, it had to be available for sale to all in 2007.

Finalists include:

  • Front-Engine/Front-Drive
Honda Civic Si; MazdaSpeed3; Mini Cooper S JCW
  • Front-Engine/All-Wheel Drive
    Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR
  • Front-Engine/Rear-Drive
BMW 335I Sport; Chevrolet Corvette Z06; Honda S2000
  • Mid - or Rear-Engine/Rear- or All-Wheel Drive
Lotus Exige S; Porsche Cayman S; Porsche GT3
The full report can be found at the link above. Our take? We hope our favorite will zoom-zoom by the rest of the competition (and no, we're not biased).
