2006 Cadillac DTS Is No Deville (And That's A Good Thing)

For those of you who equated the Cadillac DeVille as the luxury flagship or symbol for the Cadillac name, be prepared that there is a new symbol and that’s the DTS.

The DTS features GM's advanced Northstar 4.6 liter, V-8 engine which is available as either a 291 horsepower option or a base 275 horsepower . Both options work with a four-speed automatic transmission.

Interiors are where the DTS shines. The front row provides heated and cooled seating while second row passengers can enjoy their own heated. Drivers, or more specifically, their hands, will enjoy the the wood and leather steering wheel which is also heated.

Other features include a climate control, the ability to start the engine before you are in the car, OnStar with turn-by-turn route assistance, and XM Satellite Radio ready radio.

Starting price is $43,695.

The DTS is part of GM's 'single model' marketing strategy: one interior, one exterior for a model with several option packages.

Our take? For those who love quintessential American design and luxury, there's nothing better than the former DeVille.
