Hyundai Motor Co. had barely put away the cover from its QarmaQ (ATDV) SUV concept at Geneva when it announced the debut of yet another concept at the upcoming New York Auto Show next month.
Called the Genesis concept, Hyundai states any production model is aimed at the ‘premium’ part of the market, i.e., Acura and Lexus. Details are mimimum. Genesis is larger than Hyundai’s mid-sized Sonata and even the Azera, the brand’s current flagship. 4Car likens Genesis, size-wise, to the Audi A8 and BMW 7-Series full-sized vehicles. A replacement to the Equus back in Korea, Genesis will at least be equipped with a V-6 engine with a V-8 under consideration. Hyundai states Genesis will be rear-wheel drive. Our take? Toyota’s Lexus division better start watching its backside as it pursues BMW.Additional articles:Hyundai Concept Genesis rear-drive sedan to bow at New YorkHyundai Equus Spotted Galloping Along An O.C.
