Though not as well known its smaller RX sibling, the LX was nonetheless Toyota’s first entry in the luxury SUV segment. The current LX, with its 4.7 liter V-8 engine, is based off the Toyota Land Cruiser. Though Toyota has been mum, rumors have it that the new LX will be smaller and differently styled (see below). Except for that tidbit, plus a bigger engine (hence the 570 designation), there’s little else known about the BMW competitor.
Full press release and references can be found below. Our take? We suspect more of an extensive refresh than new sheetmetal. If the spyshots are correct, the new LX will share more in common with the SUVs of yore than the sleek crossovers of today.
