Last week, Chrysler issued recalls that affects nearly 500,000 vehicles among its Dodge and Jeep brands.

The first recall involves its Dodge Durango SUVs (model years 2004 to 2006). Apparently a circuit located in the vehicle’s instrument cluster could overheat and cause damage. The second involves the new Dodge Avenger (pictured) and its door latches which need to be replaced.

The latest involves 2006 and 2007 model year Jeep Liberty. Issues with the AC blower could cause it to fail especially during hot weather.

Over 328,000 Durangos, nearly 11,000 Avengers, and over 149,000 Libertys are included in the recall. Chrysler reports it will be notifying owners over the next few months. Our take? We wonder if the recent $55 million judgement  against the automaker had anything to do the above recalls. That, or the automaker is desperately trying to divest itself of such issues to make itself look attractive for potential buyers.
