The rumor mill has created another suitor for Chrysler. This time it is a private equity firm named Ripplewood Holdings.

Thomas Stallkamp, pictured, a partner with Ripplewood since 2004, was formerly a Chrysler executive with 20 years of history with the company.

Ripplewood joins a host of other companies which currently includes Magna International, Canada’s biggest auto parts maker; The Blackstone Group, another private equity firm; and investment firm Cerberus Capital Management. Magna is speculated to have the best chance in securing the troubled automaker.

Our take? This is not the first time that someone who has a history with Chrysler and may be considering purchasing the car maker. It seems that the media is looking for any evidence it can find to scoop who'll be the buyer. Personally, we hope that when Chrysler is finally purchased, it will probably be done by a company the media has not mentioned.

The story continues.
