The site's most recent one catalogs the cars that parents should consider buying for their teenagers. The selection was based on a series of criteria including:
- Cost. No car was considered that had a MSRP of $20,000 or higher.
- Only cars with a minimum of two frontal star ratings, two side-star ratings, and a rollover resistance rating were considered.
- Cars had to be rated from Consumer Reports, J.D. Power & Associates, or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Some of the cars that made the list include the Ford Fusion (and twin Mercury Milan); the Honda Civic (of course); the the Chrysler PT Cruiser; Kia Spectra; Subaru Outback; and Toyota Matrix. (Pictured is the Ford Fusion.)
Our take? Did you notice all the suggested vehicles are new? We don't know about kids today, but we were happy to get the parents' hand-me-downs. Otherwise, there were no dating possibilities when you have to meet at the bus stop to get to the nearest Mickey Dees.
