Our take? Like GM, Hyundai, and Mitsubishi, Volkswagen is in the midst of some serious restructuring as they struggle to keep or expand market share while cutting costs. Volkswagen, which has its own extensive portfolio of brands (e.g., Audi, Skoda, etc.), would be as overwhelmed as German rival Mercedes-Benz discovered when it merged with Chrysler to form DaimlerChrysler. GM, again, continues to look more and more like the struggling automaker’s prom prince.
