The Cadillac CTS, one of the marques’ best-selling vehicles, is looking to expand and Motor Trend has the sketches to prove it.

According to the magazine, General Motors is looking to develop coupe and wagon versions of the popular sedan. The former, in either a concept or production model, may arrive around 2010 while the latter to arrive a year early. There’s even speculation of a hatchback version in the wings.

Full article and images can be found here. Our take? We’re pleasantly surprised at the news. While coupe and wagon versions of sedans are nothing new (look at Mazda and its Mazda6 four-door sedan, hatchback, and sports wagon), they’re consider slow sellers in the U.S. GM, though, is also eyeing the European market where wagons, especially, are popular. We hope Motor Trend is wrong and GM will sell CTS wagons here in the states. The Dodge Magnum and Mazda6 sports wagons show there are still plenty of folks who want plenty of room but don't want an SUV.
