As the Geneva Motor Show fast approaches, spy shots, official and illicit, are popping up all over the auto sphere. Case in point: the new Audi A5.
The new coupe is Audi’s answer to the popular BMW 3-Series coupe which sets the standard in the sporty, luxury segment. These “leaked” images show the automaker’s new trapezoid grill and more menacing, slanted headlamps from the new Audi TT roadster.
Official details on engines have not yet been released (of course). Speculation has it that the A5 will come with a 4.2 liter V-8 matched to either a six-speed automatic transmission or manual. A 3-liter turbodiesel will most likely be available for European buyers.
Pricing information will either be released during or shortly after the A5’s debut in Geneva. The A5 will most likely go on sale in early 2008. A convertible version is expected to follow shortly afterwards. Our take? Though the images look stunning, we’re reserving judgement until we actually have a chance to sit in or, preferably, drive the A5.
For at least a month.
