According to an article on PR News Wire (via Auto News), U.K. motorsports Prodrive and a consortium of interested groups have acquired the exotic luxury brand from Ford Motor Co. at a cost of $1.2 billion.
Details are still coming in as to what the proud new owners plan to do with the brand. Ford purchased Aston Martin in 1993 where it joined the American automaker’s Premier Automotive Group (PAG). Financial difficulties led to its sale this year.
Jaguar now moves up to take the top tier in PAG, which now consists of Land Rover and Volvo. Note that Ford still maintains a stake in Aston Martin.
Our take? Will James Bond continue to drive an Aston? Or will he be giving the Jaguar the eye?
