According to the Peninsula On-line, Hyundai is apparently interested in Chrysler’s dealership network. There has been no official confirmation--or denial--from the Korean automaker which continues to struggle with union issues as well as the conviction of Hyundai chairman Chung Mong-koo on embezzlement.
Other interested parties include some private equity firms and Chinese organizations.
Our take? Not very seriously. Hyundai’s problems would be compounded by acquiring Chrysler. Especially vexing would be the union issue which would box the automaker on both sides of the Pacific. (Pictured is the Hyundai Tiburon, which is spanish for 'shark'. Well, this predator's going to go hungry if it wants to take a bite of Chrysler.)
