GM and Chrysler In Talks To Develop SUV Together

Setting aside the firestorm of speculation that General Motors may purchase Chrysler, there's more "mundane" news that the two automakers are looking into developing an SUV together.

A report from the Wall Street Journal says that the SUV project would result in a large vehicle like the Chevrolet Suburban (pictured).

And that’s not the end of it. Both companies continue to talk to or have already made agreements with other car manufacturers. For example, both want to develop small cars through GM Daewoo in South Korea. Chrysler has already shown signs of its desire to develop a subcompact with Chery, an auto manufacturer based in China. The subcompact would be slated for sale in the United States. And Chrysler already has an agreement with Volkswagen to develop and produce a minivan to be marketed under the Volkswagen brand.
