Toyota 4Runner Recalled In Kiwiland

Toyota Motor *** with its reputation for reliability, must be wanting to go invisible right now in New Zealand. (The phenomenally successful Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed in the country.)

According to stuff, Toyota is recalling over 30,000 of its 4Runner, Hilux, and Surf SUVs. The issue, which the article did not elaborate, is "…a problem with steering relay rods."

Vehicles affected were built in Japan between 1988 and 1996. We did a little investigating and found this post discussing a similar recall issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on 4Runners sold in the U.S. While they may not be related (since Toyota modifies its vehicles depending on which country they will be sold), the 4Runners affected were built in the same year and in Japan.
