Automotive News reports over at Autoweek that Toyota’s luxury brand Lexus is considering expanding its lineup.

States brand manager Bob Carter, "Lexus does not intend to stop growing. We have not reached our limit."

Vehicles Lexus is looking into include:

  • A seven-passenger crossover slated above its popular RX SUV and to compete against the Acura MDX, BMW X5, and Buick Enclave.
  • A crossover below its RX SUV (most likely to compete against the BMW X3 and the new Acura RDX).
  • Another hybrid with a radically different design. (Toyota must be eyeing the success of its “there’s only me” Prius hybrid and wants to duplicate it for Lexus.)

Concepts that may illustrate the above vehicles, such as the HPX, can be found at the article. Our take? Lexus has all but announced that it considers BMW its major competitor. The only exception seems to be that hybrid with its unique design. Personally, we think Lexus should look to make its vehicles sportier than provide more models. That, or give give drivers the ability to turn off some of those electronic “nannies”.
