Having been on sale now for just a few months, the 2014 Subaru Forester is being recalled for potential floor mat pedal entrapment that could make the brake pedal, accelerator, or clutch stick, leading to a vehicle potentially reaching a high rate of speed or having an accident.
Under the recall, 10,137 Forester crossovers, built from January to March 2013, are being sent back to Subaru dealers for floor mat replacement. Subaru found in extreme heat, the floor mats could curl. On the driver’s side, that could impede one’s ability to use the pedals. And that ain’t good.
If you’re an affected owner, you’re in luck, though. Subaru has said that it will contact owners and drivers of the 2014 Subaru Forester and replace, not one, but all four carpeted floor mats so that they’re all still part of a matching set, free of charge. The interim notifications will be sent in the mail by today, and Subaru will try wrangle anyone who may not have heard about the recall shortly thereafter.
