If you’ve been keeping up with our 2013 North American International Auto Show coverage from Detroit, then you’re familiar with some high-dollar vehicles. The 2013 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, which is being paraded out in Detroit this week, is no exception. This new flagship for Porsche’s SUV stable boasts 550 horsepower and a price tag that starts at $146,975, including a $975 destination charge.
The 2013 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S is powered by a 4.8-liter turbocharged V-8 engine and is rated at 550 hp, 50 ponies more than your everyday Cayenne Turbo. For those who are keeping track at home, this mill is the same one that powers the Porsche Panamera Turbo S. Porsche estimates that the Cayenne Turbo S will launch itself from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds while cruising to a top speed of 175 mph. So, if you need to get the kids to soccer practice quickly but always find yourself running a few minutes behind (and you have at least $147,000 to spare), the Cayenne Turbo S is right up your alley.
Standard features on the 2013 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S include Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, and the Sport Chrono package. To tell the difference between a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and its other, non-turbo siblings, simply look at the front air intakes and rear-view mirror trim, which have both been dunked in a high-gloss black paint. The 2013 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S rolls along on 21-inch 911 Turbo II wheels with colored Porsche badging and dual twin-tube sport tailpipes peak out from underneath the rear bumper.
Besides the 2013 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, the luxury German automaker also brought its third-generation Cayman to Detroit. The latest Cayman first debuted at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show back in November of last year but it appears Porsche wanted to drive the point home that the all-new sports car is quicker, lighter, and lower than the one it’s replacing. The 2014 Porsche Cayman benefits from a longer wheelbase, larger wheels, and a wider track-each of which enhances the vehicle’s overall performance. Your choice of a 2.7-liter engine rated at 275 hp or a 3.4-liter engine (for the Cayman S) producing 325 hp powers the latest Cayman.
The 2013 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S is slated to arrive in dealerships later this spring with a starting price of $146,975. The 2014 Porsche Cayman and Cayman S will both arrive in dealerships later this spring as well with a starting price of $52,600 for the Cayman and $63,800 for the Cayman S.
