In the next step of natural progression, the 2013 Lexus LS F Sport has been unveiled on the automaker’s Facebook page a day after a Chinese car website leaked photos of it. While the official unveil isn’t slated to take place until next Monday, July 30, Lexus, in wake of the leaked photos, has decided to show the new LS F Sport off early instead.
The image pictured above gives the best rendition yet of what to expect from the luxury arm of Toyota’s flagship vehicle. When Lexus revealed the 2013 LS was on the way, an F Sport model was also promised but was met with confusion. The performance branch of Lexus has been busy in recent months rolling out F Sport variants of the RX, GS, and even the CT. Lexus models that wear the “F” badge receive exterior styling tweaks courtesy of a more aggressive looking body kit and sport-tuned suspension.
As we took away from the original teaser shots and later, the leaked photos, the 2013 Lexus LS will feature the spindle grille which is making its way across the lineup. The LS F Sport appears to differ from its tamer sibling as it features bigger wheels, a swollen hood, and air intakes that sit lower on the front end. After seeing the officially unofficial photos of the 2013 Lexus LS F Sport, we’re led to believe that a slightly different version of the 4.6-liter V-8 engine will serve under the hood, the same engine currently used in the LS 460 and LS 460 L long-wheelbase. However, don’t be surprised if Lexus adds more power to an engine that already produces 380 horsepower for the latest rendition of the LS F Sport.
Lexus has gone ahead and confirmed that the image shown on the automaker’s Facebook page is, in fact, the 2013 LS F Sport. The official unveil is still scheduled to happen on Monday, July 30, so be sure to check back with Automotive.com throughout the day.
