The seven-passenger version of the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe crossover is only a few months from going on sale here in the U.S., but it appears Hyundai may have something up its sleeves. Our colleagues over at our sister site Motor Trend caught the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe testing out in the desert, but this Santa Fe had a black camouflage suit covering its rear-end. Odd, as Hyundai unveiled the full Santa Fe at the New York Auto Show in April.
Our powers of automotive deduction suggest Hyundai may still be tweaking the rear-end styling, or has already made a slight modification to the rear, and has yet to unveil it. Hyundai had a couple of the Korean-spec longer seven-passenger Santa Fe’s on display—sans the camo—when we were on our first drive of the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. The Santa Fe Sport is smaller, has two rows, and seats five. Regardless of what may come of the rear-end styling, the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe seven-passenger version will be powered by a 3.3-liter V-6, capable of producing 294 hp. Hyundai’s smaller Santa Fe Sport is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder base engine that can produce 190 hp, or the stronger 2.4-liter turbo-four-cylinder that can put out 264 hp. The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is currently on sale.
