2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Teases before Official New York Auto Show Debut

One auto show down, another one to go, which means more teasers from the automakers.

Latest culprit is Hyundai, who just released images of its 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe crossover scheduled to debut at next month’s New York Auto Show. The Hyundai Santa Fe’s new sheetmetal moves away from the curvaceous “Fluidic Sculpture” shaping the rest of the Hyundai lineup and instead follows what the automaker calls “Storm Edge.” Huh. What our daylight savings time-affected eyes see is a little of the Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Edge, Kia Sorento, and Nissan Murano (i.e., all crossovers out there), all fronted by Hyundai’s signature hexagonal grill found on the Hyundai Tucson and, especially, the all-new 2012 Hyundai Azera.

Hyundai provides no additional information on the Hyundai Santa Fe outside the exterior images. Our colleagues over at Automobile Magazine speculate the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe will be powered by the current Santa Fe engines, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 3.5-liter V-6, both coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission. AM also theorize Hyundai may drop the six-cylinder engine and instead offer the 2013 Santa Fe with turbo and non-turbo four cylinder engines instead, similar to the popular Hyundai Sonata sedan. As always, we’ll know more at the official unveiling at the New York Auto Show in April.
