Ford has released pricing information on its 2013 Explorer Sport model.
The full-size crossover starts at $41,545 which includes the $825 destination and handling fee. That price puts the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport slightly above the Explorer Limited Edition which starts at $38,680, which also includes destination and handling fee.
The 2013 Ford Explorer Sport, as the top-of-the line model, includes additional features either as standard or unique to the model. The Explorer Sport, as the more “fun to drive” model, has had its chassis stiffened for better handling and performance. Brakes are larger on the Explorer Sport to improve stopping distance and assist in towing up to 5,000 pounds. The full-size crossover continues to be a capable off-roader, utilizing Ford’s four-wheel drive with terrain management system as standard.
Design-wise, the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport wears its own unique front grill design and 20-inch wheels. Ford turned to the fashion industry in designing the Explorer Sport’s interior, with contrasting color and even stitching based on Balenciaga and Prada products. Seriously. Sport badges can be found on the Explorer Sport’s scuff plates and floor mats. Other standard comfort features include 10-way powered driver seat, six-way powered front passenger seat, and rearview camera. Optional features include blind-spot detection, adjustable pedal, and power liftgate. Automotive analysis site Intellichoice has yet to rate the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport, however it gave the 2012 Ford Explorer a “Below Average” rating.
