It took a while, but the first major embargo has broken before the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The victim: The 2013 Dodge Dart, which so far the company had been able to keep tightly under wraps.
We’ve had these photos for a while, but this is the first time we’ve been able to share them. As you probably guessed—and you will probably agree with us on this one—it’s a huge step forward for Dodge’s small car offerings. Not just a far better looking car than the Caliber it replaces, it’s instantly one of the best looking cars in its class. The 2013 Dodge Dart combines the in-your-face styling we’ve come to expect from Dodge, but with a flair and attention to detail that’s been lacking in its smaller cars. The best way to describe it to your friends who haven’t seen it is that it resembles a Hyundai Elantra, but without all the extra swoops and streaks in its body work.
The interior is what really shines though. The new Dodge Dart forgoes an actual needle-and-dial speedometer in favor of a 7-inch high-resolution screen that can be configured for multiple functions. The dash is dominated by another huge display for the navigation/entertainment system. Overall it’s a clean, tidy interior, but with some added flair that makes it look—dare we say this for a compact car—exciting.
More details on what powers the 2013 Dodge Dart will be coming soon enough on Monday, so keep your eyes peeled. That is, once you’re done ogling the photos below.
