Buick has decided to tease the 2013 Encore before its scheduled unveil at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month.
What we do know is that the Encore will “offer contemporary Buick styling, signature QuietTuning technology, and segment-leading content and space.” As for what lies under the Encore’s skin, nobody’s quite sure. Logic says it would share the same underpinnings as the GMC Terrain, Chevrolet Equinox, and Cadillac SRX, however some say that the Encore will actually be based on the subcompact Chevrolet Sonic. The only thing that’s certain is that Buick isn’t saying anything yet. Same goes for what’s under the hood, but we suspect some version of GM’s new 2.5-liter Ecotec four-cylinder mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
A concept version of the Encore was shown off at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year but the production vehicle (pictured above) may differ greatly from that. While this is only a teaser image the concept had much sharper lines and the production version appears to be much softer. However, one cool detail: The hidden Buick tri-shield logo in the headlight. Do you see it?
As it has become almost standard with automakers, we expect to see the Encore fully revealed before its official showing in Detroit. Buick will also be releasing a teaser image each week on its Facebook page. Keep checking back for updates on the 2013 Buick Encore along with all things news and debuts from the North American International Auto Show.
