Audi has had much to celebrate of late, including 22 consecutive months of sales records. It appears the saying “when it rains, it pours,” has never been more true for the hot German luxury automaker. Audi’s most important model, the 2013 Audi A4, and it’s sporty, enhanced S4 version have both just received the top rating of five-stars in the NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).
“Safety is top of mind for customers in the market to purchase a luxury vehicle,” said Audi’s new North American president, Scott Keogh. “We are pleased to see that the safety technologies engineered into these vehicles helped both the A4 and S4 earn top marks in one of the most rigorous crash testing programs in the world.” The 2013 Audi A4 comes with front, side, and side-curtain airbags as standard, along with a host of advanced driver assistance and accident-prevention systems.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration initially developed its five star system to help consumers understand more about a vehicles crash protection and rollover safety. One star is the lowest rating and five stars–the same as the 2013 Audi A4 and 2013 Audi S4 received in frontal, side, and rollover crashes–is the highest rating.
