2012 Geneva Motor Show: Bentley, Audi developing V-8 for Continental GT

Bentley Continental Front

At the Paris Motor Show, exotic car maker Bentley revealed pricing details on its fan-favorite Continental GT coupe.

Starting at $189,900, excluding an unspecified destination fee, price is roughly $7000 higher than the outgoing Continental GT’s, but for that price, you get a restyled exterior and interior that are evolutions of the current model’s, but with stronger lines.

In addition to the new styling, the car receives an updated powertrain: a revised version of the 6.0-liter twin-turbo W-12 that pumps out 567 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque — increases of 15 horsepower and 37 pound-feet, respectively. The engine puts the power to the ground through a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The big news for the new Bentley coupe is the addition of an all-new 4.0-liter V-8 being developed with Audi. We’ll learn more about the V-8 at the Geneva Motor Show next year, which Bentley insists will be sold alongside the W-12, not below it. If this is true, expect the V-8 to also start at just under $190,000.
