2011 Subaru Forester gets New Engine, Touring Edition

2009 Subaru Forester Front

Subaru has released information on its popular Forester crossover.
Halfway through its third generation, the 2011 Subaru Forester will receive a slightly updated version of the automaker’s 2.5-liter, four-cylinder boxer engine, along with a few other refreshments to help keep it current. Output remains the same, at 170 horsepower, but the minor tweaks have bumped torque from 170 to 174 pound-feet and help boost fuel economy slightly to 21/27 (city/highway) for either a manual or automatic transmission. While XT-badged turbo models retain their current powerplant, all 2.5X trim levels get the slightly revised engine. Displacement has been bumped from 2457 cc to 2498 cc by way of a larger bore and longer stroke. Camshafts were previously belt driven, but are now turned by a chain.

Subaru also added a new 2.5X Touring trim that sits above the Limited but below 2.5XT models. The new model features HID low beam headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, silver roof rails, and side mirrors with integrated turn signals. As for the turbo models, Subaru has replaced the top-of-the-line Limited with the Touring, which features a new 10-way power driver’s seat. As part of its new audio system, both Premium models receive a backup camera, while all trims get Bluetooth hands-free calling.

Full press release can be found below. Subaru has not yet released pricing details on the Forester. However, we expect the automaker to follow its peers and keep pricing close to 2010 levels.

    USE TECHNOLOGY TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!
TIRED OF PAYING ALOT FOR GAS? TIRED OF EXPENSIVE OIL CHANGES? TRY AMS!
I drive alot and I am sure alot of others here do the same. I used to pay for oil changes every 3-6k miles on regular oil/filter. I did some research and found that if you switch to AMS FULL Synthetic Oil you can change your Oil every 25,000-mile/one-year drain intervals. That means you can drive your vehicle on the same oil for 25,000 miles before having to change the filter and oil again! I purchase my Oil and Filter and then I just go to the local discount oil lube places with my oil and filter and just pay $15-20 dollars for the labor. That is not the only advantage of AMS synthetic oil you also save on GAS! Industry tests demonstrate an average conservative decrease in fuel consumption by two to five percent by switching to synthetic lubricants. Many AMSOIL customers report even larger gains in fuel economy!
