2011 LA Auto Show: $30K Chevrolet Camaro Convertible to debut

2007 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Concept Front Quarter

In the midst of Paris previews, Chevy has taken the wraps off the production version of its Camaro convertible following last week’s auction of the first one off the line.
Like the preview pictures posted on Facebook indicated earlier this year, the Camaro convertible destined for production remains remarkably true to the 2007 concept. Production Camaro convertibles will follow trim level and powertrain schemes similar to the coupe’s. Camaro convertibles will be powered by either a 312-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6, or a 426-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8, mated to either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission.

The first Camaro convertible fetched an auction price of $205,000, but the Camaro will hit dealerships with a price tag of $30,000 ($850 destination fee included). By comparison, base Camaro coupes list at $23,530 — a difference of more than $6000.
