And here it is!
Unveiled in advance of the 2010 Paris Motor Show, the show car promises not preview the forthcoming Murcielago successor, but the company’s new design and engineering direction. The vast majority of the car is built with composite materials; carbon fiber is used for most of the monocoque structure, while the suspension is fabricated from sheet-molded composite.
Does the company’s new obsession with lightweight materials and construction pay off? Absolutely. Despite sporting the same powertrain and roughly the same dimensions as the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, the completed car tips the scales at just under 2200 pounds. As a result, the 570-horsepower V-10 can theoretically rocket the vehicle from 0-62 mph in a shockingly quick 2.5 seconds.
