2010 Detroit Auto Show: Carmakers to display Electric Cars in Green Avenue

The idea of using electric vehicles as an alternative to conventional automobiles has long been considered due to the negative effects emissions from gasoline burning vehicles have on the environment, but because of certain limitations they were never really taken seriously by consumers.

However, with gas prices the way that they are right now and the inevitable truth that fossil fuels will eventually run out hanging over our heads has made eco-friendly alternatives such as electric vehicles a rising trend.

Keeping up with this trend, it has just been announced that a new “Electric Avenue” exhibit will be a part of the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. Like similar exhibits featured at last year’s Detroit auto show, and 2010 North American International Show, the Electric Avenue exhibit will be devoted entirely too electric vehicles.

According to sources, 37,000-square-feet will be devoted to the Electric Avenue exhibit and will display vehicles from several major automakers and new-comers, and will also have a small track so that visitors can test drive some of the vehicles.

In a statement from show chairman Doug Fox, “Electric Avenue is going to be a unique feature for the 2010 NAIAS that will enable us to educate a diverse audience about the long term viability of the auto industry using a subject that is top of mind globally these days.”
